Paul McCartney is probably, arguably and quite possibly the greatest singer, songwriter, lyricist, composer, producer and innovator – in one word, musician - the world of music has ever known. If it wasn't for him, someone would probably have to invent a parallel character, as his list of accomplishments is never-ending, ever-lasting and even today, after over 60 years of activity, his influence is still existing.
Sir Paul McCartney would have had his name engraved in bold, gold letters even if it was only for his ten years of participation and creating as a part of the Beatles. If it wasn't for him, the world would have to do without the records "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", "Abbey Road" and "Let It Be", in which the Beatles have re-invented large parts of the music and recording history. The world would have also had to do without a roof-top show, without lyrics on the back cover of an album, and all the innovations the Beatles and their producer, Sir George Marin, have come up during studio work.
After the breakup of the Beatles, McCartney was actually the last Beatle to have known success, but his solo career (which included a near decade working with his band Wings) is still going on strong today. The latest of his albums "One Hand Clapping", is a studio live show-atmosphere playing, recorded in 1974 and released in 2024 – classical albums.
According to numerous lists, McCartney is the most successful music artist of all-time, the only one to break 500 million equivalent album sales combined. He's record-breaking 32 US #1 singles and 27 US #1 albums is second to none. 60 of his albums have achieved gold album status from sales all over the world. He has written, or co-wrote, 129 songs that made the Billboard Hot 100 chart, 91 of them made the Top 10, and 32 went to No. 1. Maybee its enough to mention just one, "Yesterday", that is still the most-covered song in pop music history, recorded by over 2,000 artists. He was 23 at the time.
McCartney has written and produced 22 studio albums, 8 live albums, 3 greatest hits albums, 75 singles, 55 music videos, 5 classical albums and 7 albums in collaboration with other artists, film soundtracks, endless films appearances, rock documentaries and more.
Paul McCartney's list of honors is simply too long to mention. We'll sum it up by saying that he is an 18 times Grammy Award winner and was inducted twice to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – as a member of the Beatles and as Paul McCartney.
As far as concert tours, McCartney has been everywhere. The Beatles, as is well known, have stopped touring in 1967 due to the sheer and extreme volumes of hysteria, as well as pressure their live shows have created. But McCartney, both as a solo artist and as part of Wings, went on less than 22 concert tours, 10 of them have been worldwide.
McCartney, recent tour, "Got Back" has kicked off in April 2022 in the United States and keeps getting bigger and longer, with dated added. As of now, it is unknown whether the tour would ne McCartney's last. The tour no doubt feeds of Peter Jackson's remarkable documentary "Get Back', a six-hour remake of the Beatles un-shown films of the "Let it Be" album session, which concluded at that famous Abby Road Studios roof-top show. During the tour, McCartney performs a "video duet" with John Lennon, singing "I've got a feeling", as footage was taken from the "Get Back" documentary. The tour is scheduled to conclude in December 2024 at the O2 Arena in London but it is recommended to follow the dates list. After all, one may never know.
